Summer Reading 2021
When? June 7th through July 21st; Prize Day/Outdoor Fair on July 26th. Reading Logs due by 5pm, July 21st.
Where? Register anytime starting June 7th at either location. Virtual and in-person programs and activities are planned for each location; see schedule below. All in-person programs are held Mondays at 10 AM in Ashland and 1 pm in Pleasant Plains.
How? Read (or be read to) books, e-books or audio books; log your minutes and earn prizes! Enjoy fun programs, themed take-home kits, weekly drawings, and special themed displays each week at your library location.
NEW! Our Teen Reading Tournament for readers 7th grade through high school features activities, displays, and prizes for middle and high school readers.
Schedule of Events
June 7 - Arts Week/Registration
Visit either location to register and receive your registration start-up bag. Monday Only: begin logging your reading minutes at any of our reading stations, staffed by volunteers ready to read to you or be read to!
July 6 - Water Week
Visit either location for a ready-made Ocean Sensory Kit, plus books and activities to discover Earth's waterways and how they help us thrive.
July 12 - Sun, Stars, & Planets Week
Visit either location for books and activities to discover more about our spectacular solar system. Before you blast off for parts unknown, pick up a "squish painting" Sun craft kit to do at home.
July 19 - Rainbow Week
What can you make with all these colors? A rainbow! At either location you'll find books, a rainbow crystal craft and activities celebrating rainbows. Wednesday, July 21: Last day to turn in Reading Logs (by 5 pm to either location).
July 26 - Prize Day & Outdoor Fair
Retrieve your summer reading prizes and celebrate your summer of reading at our Outdoor Fair complete with games, treats, prizes, and more.
